Minister of National Security and senator-elect for La Libertad Avanza (LLA), Patricia Bullrich, referred to the Vice President of the Nation, Victoria Villarruel, and assured that "she places herself as President of the Senate, without taking sides" with the government of Javier Milei.
In television statements accessed by the Argentine News Agency, she stated that in the meeting they held, the "differences regarding how to face the future" became clear and that, although "in general" the heads of the Chambers "take sides" in parliamentary debates, "like Martin Menem", she does not.
"The objective that I am going to seek, together with our entire bloc, is for the Vice President, without violating the regulations, because it is not necessary, to help push the projects that the Government needs so that Argentina grows more and more," Bullrich stated on La Nación +.
Along the same lines, she recognized that they must "build a majority" and that as the ruling party, "we must take advantage of the popular vote" they had in the last elections on October 26, which makes them participants in a "unique situation":
"We have generated unprecedented international agreements and managed to be a country with better security indices than others," she added.
Similarly, she stated that for LLA the most important issues continue to be "order, security, the economy, and the necessary laws," referring to the "modernization" that the Government proposes for the labor reform they intend to pass in the National Congress.
Subsequently to the meeting, Villarruel also gave statements to the press and communicated what topics they addressed with the minister and senator-elect.
"It is a very different task, which I don't know, but I have to get used to it," she concluded.
One of the issues was how the management of the Chamber works and to remind her that she "has no faculties to obstruct or interrupt" the parliamentary exercise in the Senate.
"I wanted to clarify this to her, above all, so that she is aware that I have faculties that are very well defined by the Constitution and by the Chamber's regulations, and they point to ensuring that the independence of powers and respect for the faculties of the Legislative Power are always guaranteed."
